Sports & Activity Pack Familiarisaton and Day Certificate in Sports Leadership
Target groups: Youth workers, Development Officers, Project Staff and Volunteers aged 16+
Session time: 1 day
To provide an introduction to leadership skills in order that participants are able to deliver basic sports sessions at their clubs and projects.
To familiarise the group with activities, planning process and safety mechanisms
To build confidence in delivery of practical activities in a youth club setting
To provide a basic introduction to leadership skills
By the end of the session the group will:
Grasp the basic elements involved in planning safe, purposeful and fun activities in their youth club
Understand basic sporting structures in the UK
Experience delivery, participation and evaluation of basic sports sessions
Share ideas and discuss practical issues involved in the delivery of activities
Have an understanding of the basic elements of leadership including;
This is a practical course and participants will be involved in a range of basic sports and have the opportunity to demonstrate their leadership skills.
Successful candidates receive a nationally recognised award through Sports Leaders UK. Candidates are encouraged to go on to The Community Sports Leaders Level 2.
